with a little help from my friends
I will find a great hotel at a even greater price. My friend and I are taking another friend to New Orleans for a little girls getaway (the mutual friend is getting married.) SO---all you Louisiannians-- know of any great places that can fit into a less than great budget? I need ideas quick-we are going in a few weeks!

Try www.priceline.com. If you expand your options to include Metairie and other areas surrounding New Orleans (don't include Mandeville or anywhere else across the lake), you should be able to get something cheap and decent. I got a Sheraton in Metairie when I worked down there earlier this year, and it was $40.00 a night. Call me if you have trouble. I've used www.priceline.com often and with great success.

We stayed at the Prytania Park Hotel in the Garden district- it was nice.

The Place d’ Armes is a great place to stay. It is just a half a block off of Jackson Square. You can’t beat the location. It is not a budget place to stay but it is soo worth it. Check out their web site. http://www.placedarmes.com/tour.html

I'll second the recommendation for the Prytania Park. I haven't been there in a few years, but it was really nice and quite affordable the last couple of times I was in N.O.
